My art is an ever-evolving journey—a continuous exploration that I’ve been immersed in for many years. Rooted in Jungian psychology, Greek mythology, and Buddhist philosophy, my work delves into the depths of the psyche, embracing the concepts of impermanence and imperfection. It’s less about reaching a final destination and more about the process itself—a devotional practice where pieces are “worked to death,” evolving until they’re completely transformed or until I can no longer continue.

The Buddhist Sketchbook: Embracing the Beauty of Impermanence

The Buddhist Sketchbook is a cornerstone of my practice. Inspired by the Buddhist concept of Anicca, or impermanence, each sketch is a spontaneous expression of the present moment. I let my hand move freely, unburdened by plans or expectations, allowing the subconscious to guide each line and shape. The sketchbook becomes a living entity, with pages that layer over time, capturing the fluidity of life itself.

In this ongoing project, no mark holds supremacy over another. Imperfections aren’t just accepted—they’re celebrated. The evolving nature of the sketchbook mirrors the transient beauty of existence, inviting viewers to find peace in the ever-changing flow of life. It’s a meditation on how everything is in flux, and that’s where true beauty lies.

The Disappearing Man: Navigating Presence and Absence

In The Disappearing Man series, I explore the delicate balance between existence and oblivion. Drawing upon Jungian concepts of the shadow self and the unconscious, these works depict figures fading into their surroundings. The translucent layers and diminishing forms symbolize the gradual erosion of the ego and the surrender to deeper aspects of the psyche.

This series challenges both myself and the viewer to contemplate notions of identity and connection. By portraying figures that are simultaneously present and vanishing, I delve into the human experience of constantly evolving selves. It’s a visual exploration of how we navigate the spaces between being and non-being, reminding us of the invisible threads that weave us into the fabric of the universe.

Ever Evolving Self Portrait (Hollow Man): The Fluidity of Identity

My Ever Evolving Self Portrait, also known as Hollow Man, is perhaps the most personal of my projects. Influenced by Greek mythology’s shapeshifters and the concept of the self as a vessel, this piece is never truly finished. I continually return to it, layering new experiences and emotions over the old.

By depicting the human form as hollow yet full of potential, I embrace the idea that identity isn’t fixed but constantly reshaped by our stories and memories. The absence of definitive features allows the portrait to act as a mirror, reflecting not just my own journey but inviting viewers to consider their own evolving identities. It’s an ongoing dialogue with myself and the world around me—a testament to the belief that self-knowledge is a lifelong journey.

The Process Over the Product: Art as a Devotional Practice

What unites all my work is a deep fascination with the process rather than the final product. I immerse myself in the act of creating, allowing pieces to transform, sometimes to the point where the original image is obscured. This “working them to death” is a reflection of life’s impermanent nature—a cycle of creation, decay, and rebirth.

My art is a devotional practice, a serious yet approachable dive into the psyche. While the themes are profound, I strive to maintain a friendly and accessible tone in both my work and how I share it. I believe that art should be a space for connection and introspection, offering insights without becoming overly solemn.

Connecting Through Universal Themes

By weaving together elements of psychology, mythology, and spirituality, I aim to tap into universal themes that resonate across cultures and time. My work is a dialogue between the conscious and the unconscious, the material and the ethereal. It’s an invitation to join me on this introspective journey, to find reflections of ourselves in the impermanent and the imperfect.

Through embracing imperfection and impermanence, I celebrate the beauty of the unfinished and the transient. My art is a living, breathing entity—a reflection of our ever-changing world and the myriad ways we navigate it. By sharing this perspective, I hope to create a space where others can explore their own depths, finding peace and connection in the shared human experience.

In Essence

Art, for me, is not about perfection but about authenticity. It’s a continuous process of self-discovery and expression that acknowledges the fleeting nature of existence. By embracing the journey over the destination, I find meaning in the act of creation itself—a timeless dance between the known and the unknown, the visible and the invisible.
